The first Rollercoaster Tycoon was a classic that is still as addictive today as it was when it was first released. Both the game and the two expansions for the game sold extraordinarily well and it was with much anticipation that the sequel was awaited. Unfortunately though the sequel was disappointing for a number of reasons and it never achieved the acclaim that the first game had.

The main problems with Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 were the graphics and the interface. Graphically the game was virtually identical to the first game. Everyone expected a detailed 3D engine (which finally happened with Rollercoaster Tycoon 3) and it was depressing for the game to look just like the one you had been playing for years. The interface was even more of a disappointment. For some reason the intuitive interface that Rollercoaster Tycoon had was altered in numerous ways and the result was quite painful for existing fans of the series.

Gripes aside though, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 is still an enjoyable strategy game that's well worth the asking price. Once you've adjusted to the interface and learned to live with the graphics you'll find a strategy game that will keep you busy for months. There are no problems for deaf gamers either as all information is presented in text.
