Fund & Benefactors

Dear Friends

As you are probably already aware, Deaf Gamers is a website that I run in my spare time and the expenses it incurs are taken out of my own pocket. The website has now been running for almost twelve years (one as Deaf Gamers.co.uk and almost eleven as Deaf Gamers.com) and at times over the years it has proved to be a costly hobby. I am no longer in a position to make major purchases for new hardware myself and indeed I haven't been for a few years now.

In 2007 I asked you, the readers of Deaf Gamers, to help me fund the purchase of the PlayStation 3 to enable me to bring PlayStation 3 game reviews to you and your support then enabled me and is still enabling me to bring PlayStation 3 reviews to you. Since then other financial gifts have helped me purchase newer PC hardware which has been absolutely essential in allowing me to continue to review PC games. That said, I haven't received enough to purchase either the Nintendo 3DS or the Kinect for Microsoft's Xbox 360 which is why you haven't seen reviews for either on the website. This is a shame as I've been offered review code for both.

So what's the point of all this then? Well in just over a month we'll see the release of the PlayStation Vita, the successor to the Sony PSP. I'd love to review games for the console (just as I'd love to be able to review games for the Kinect, 3DS and touch screen devices) but with the Vita priced at just under £230 there is no way I can fund this purchase myself. If you're interested in seeing reviews on Deaf Gamers for the PlayStation Vita, 3DS or Kinect then I ask that you consider gifting whatever you can afford. No matter how small the amount, it all helps me to review games for the latest formats.

The alternative is that I'll only be in a position to review games for the formats I currently have access to and eventually, as in the case of the DS and PSP, they will become formats that have been superseded. I've never wanted to charge people for access to content on the website, as I've always wanted to keep the content accessible for everyone, but this is one of those occasions where I need to rely on the generosity of others to enable Deaf Gamers to keep up to date with the current hardware and in turn be in a position to provide feedback of how accessible today's games are for you.

To send Deaf Gamers a financial gift to enable the website to continue to bring you reviews for the latest formats simply click on the 'PayPal' logo on the right side of this page.

Many thanks for your time.

Without the financial gifts from the following people we would not be reviewing PlayStation 3 games.
